Terms of service

1. Service description

RecastCV is an AI-powered CV and resume tailoring tool. It allows you to upload a master CV, add project details to a personal library, and generate tailored CVs or resumes for specific job descriptions. The service also includes an application tracker, an ATS score checker, and an interview preparation module.

RecastCV is available as a web application and as a native iOS app. Both share the same account and data.

The tailoring functionality uses Anthropic Claude to generate CV output. Each tailored CV consumes one credit from your account balance.

2. Account and eligibility

To use RecastCV you must be at least 16 years old and capable of forming a binding contract under applicable law. By creating an account you represent that you meet these requirements.

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us at ai@sumletter.com immediately.

You may not create accounts for others without their consent, and you may not share your account with other individuals.

3. Credit packs and purchases

RecastCV uses a credit-based model. You purchase credits in packs and spend one credit per tailored CV generated. Credits have no expiry date.

New accounts receive a sign-up bonus of three credits at no cost, which can be used immediately without a purchase.

Credit purchases are non-refundable, except where required by applicable consumer protection law. If you have a complaint about a purchase, contact ai@sumletter.com and we will review it in good faith.

If we discontinue the service, we will refund unused credits proportionally. Payments are processed by Stripe. By purchasing credits you agree to Stripe’s terms.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to use RecastCV to:

• Generate CVs for other individuals without their knowledge and consent.
• Submit false or fraudulent information in your master CV or project library with the intent to deceive potential employers.
• Use the service in ways that violate any applicable law or regulation, including employment laws in your jurisdiction.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or systematically extract the service’s prompts, output formats, or underlying models.
• Use automated scripts to generate large volumes of tailored CVs beyond what a single individual could reasonably apply for.
• Interfere with the integrity or performance of the service or attempt to access systems or data that are not intended for you.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

5. AI-generated content and accuracy

RecastCV uses AI to rewrite and tailor your CV. While the system is designed to ground its output in your existing material only — not to invent experience you do not have — AI systems can produce unexpected results.

You are responsible for reviewing all AI-generated output before submitting it to any employer or recruiter. Do not submit a tailored CV without reading it. If any statement in the generated output is inaccurate, overstated, or does not reflect your genuine experience, correct it before sending.

RecastCV does not warrant that AI-generated output is accurate, complete, suitable for any particular role, or free from error. The service is a productivity tool, not a guarantee of employment outcomes.

6. Intellectual property

You retain full ownership of your master CV, your project library content, and any tailored CV output generated by the service from your material.

By uploading content to RecastCV, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to process and store that content solely for the purpose of providing the service to you. We do not claim ownership of your content and we do not use it for any purpose other than operating the service.

The RecastCV application, its design, codebase, branding, and documentation are owned by RecastCV. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute them without written permission.

7. Disclaimers and liability limits

The service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error- free, or secure, or that any defects will be corrected.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, RecastCV and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to loss of employment opportunities, loss of data, or loss of revenue.

Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the service shall not exceed the total amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties or limitation of liability for incidental or consequential damages. In such jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

If you are a consumer in another jurisdiction, you may have additional rights under local consumer protection law that cannot be excluded by contract. Nothing in these terms affects those rights.

9. Termination

You may close your account at any time by contacting us at ai@sumletter.com. We will process account deletion within 30 days.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, abuse the service, or engage in fraudulent activity. Where possible we will give notice before termination and an opportunity to resolve the issue.

On termination, your right to use the service ends immediately. Sections 5, 6, 7, and 8 survive termination.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email before the changes take effect. Continued use of the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
